Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

RECAMFT is very excited to offer Special Interest Groups or SIGs starting in the fall 2026.

What is a SIG?

A Special Interest Group (SIG) is an ongoing community of RECAMFT members who share a common therapeutic interest and meet regularly to learn, collaborate, and support one another. It is open to RECAMFT members who have experience or a new interest in the topic.

A SIG is started by two RECAMFT members, as co-chairs that will have an appeal to a larger group of RECAMFT members.  either in-person, or on Zoom.

What SIGs is RECAMFT offering currently?

RECAMFT is currently offering the following SIGs run by these co-chairs. The SIGs are listed on our Current Events page. Please register so we know how many to expect, and please show up if you register because some SIGs may be limited in the space for attendees.

I have an idea for a SIG! How do I get started?

Great! We are hoping for more SIGs as we have so many creative members with loads of expertise. You need a co-chair who must also be a member of RECAMFT. Then you can complete this one-page SIG Proposal Form, and send it to info@recamft.org. Elle Saunders is our SIG Chair, and she will get in touch with you after she receives your proposal. As SIG co-chairs, you agree to follow RECAMFT's Bylaws, Mission Statement, Racial and Social Justice Pledge, and honor our values, and vision (all attached to the proposal form), and to hold at least one meeting a quarter. The meeting can be on Zoom, or in-person in an office or alternate location. You also agree to complete this online brief SIG Meeting Report form by the last day of each month briefly reporting on the activities (if any) of your SIG. That's it!

We are hoping to see all sorts of SIGs get started!

Members have expressed interest in all the following topics.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • EMDR
  • Existential therapy
  • Sexual trauma
  • Medical disabilities
  • Emergency response (fires, floods, shootings, etc.)
  • Neurodiversity
  • Child play therapy
  • Brainspotting
  • Spanish speaking therapists

So, if something like this interests you, please find a friend to be your co-chair, and send in your proposal! We can't wait to see how this grows!!
