LONG Description
I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1993. I was an Adjunct Professor for 10 years at Dominican University of California where I taught in the Master's level Counseling Psychology program. I am the founder of the Petaluma Counseling Center, where, as the director, I built a thriving business, provided psychotherapy to clients and supervised associate therapists. I have trained in many approaches to therapy including psychodynamic/psychoanalytic (through NCSPP,) cognitive behavioral therapy (in particular TEAM-CBT with David Burns,) hypnotherapy with Michael Yapko, EMDR with Phil Manfield, IFS with Richard Schwartz, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and Mentalization-Based Therapy. My Master's degree is in Drama Therapy. I have studied Buddhist psychology at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and attended silent retreats. I work with each person in a very individualized way, drawing off the variety of approaches I have trained in and the years of experience working with many different people. I have always been deeply curious about the human psyche and the nature of human suffering. I have a strong belief that growth and recovery are always possible, and also an understanding that sometimes acceptance is the wisest thing. I feel honored to accompany people as they look to heal and adapt. I can provide either brief or long-term therapy. I am licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Oregon as well as California.
